Responsibilities
The Surveyor (MWS) is responsible for assessing, approving, and monitoring transport and loading/unloading operations of heavy and valuable cargoes on behalf of insurers and project stakeholders. The role focuses on ensuring safety, cargo integrity, and compliance with international standards during all phases of transport.
Requirements
Core tasks:
Assessing method statements, loading and unloading procedures, lifting plans, and sea fastening designs
Verifying calculations such as stability, load distribution, and forces
Issuance of Certificate of Approval (CoA)
Advising insurers on risk acceptance
Supervising loading, unloading, and heavy lift operations
Inspecting cargo securing and lashing
Checking that work is carried out in accordance with approved plans
Identifying and mitigating risks during transport
Monitoring transport via (heavy lift) vessels and barges
Supervision of stowage and voyage conditions
Typical projects:
Transport van offshore modules
Wind turbine components
FPSO and platform components
Large industrial projects
Requirements:
8–15+ years of experience in marine surveying, heavy lift, or project cargo
Knowledge of cargo securing, stability
Strong analytical skills and decisiveness
International work experience and willingness to travel
