# RO - 5G DevOps Engineer

## Responsibilities

As a Senior 5G DevOps Engineer at ZaiNar, you will own the internal development platform that powers our 5G engineering team, building and operating the CI/CD, automation, and monitoring infrastructure that lets the team move fast and ship reliably. You will work hands-on across Kubernetes cluster build-out, GitLab pipelines, infrastructure-as-code, and Grafana observability. This is a hands-on builder role for someone energized by owning a platform end-to-end in a fast-paced startup environment.

JOB RESPONSIBILITIES

5G Development Platform

  * Manage and scale the 5G development platform that supports ZaiNar's 5G engineering team.

  * Prepare the 5G solution for commercial deployment through packaging, monitoring, and supportability work that takes the product from engineering-ready to market-ready.




Kubernetes & OpenShift Infrastructure

  *  Build production Kubernetes and OpenShift clusters from scratch across cloud, edge, and on-prem environments, owning the full lifecycle from initial deployment through upgrades, scaling, and security hardening.

  * Operate and troubleshoot the clusters that run the 5G platform, supporting workload deployment in partnership with the 5G engineering team.




CI/CD & Automation

  * Build and maintain CI/CD pipelines in GitLab to ensure build consistency, automated linting, testing, and versioned artifact creation.

  * Maintain the health and capacity of GitLab runners across the 5G build environment.

  * Deploy infrastructure-as-code using GitLab, Terraform, and Jenkins, including integrations across all three for repeatable environment provisioning.

  * Integrate quality gates into pipelines using SonarScanner, Pytest, and other linting tools to maintain code quality standards.




Monitoring & Alerting

  * Build and operate Grafana-based monitoring and alerting tailored to the 5G platform, covering platform health, deployment state, and test environments.




5G Team Support

  * Provide direct technical support to the 5G engineering team on platform, tooling, and infrastructure issues.

## Requirements

MUST HAVE ATTRIBUTES/SKILLS

  * 5+ years of experience in DevOps, SRE, or platform engineering roles building developer-facing CI/CD and infrastructure systems.

  * Hands-on experience building production Kubernetes clusters from scratch (greenfield), creating deployments from zero rather than maintaining or extending systems built by others.

  * Deep hands-on experience with CI/CD, including pipeline design, runner operations, and integration with other build and deployment tools (GitLab preferred).

  * Proficiency with infrastructure-as-code, including integration with CI/CD systems.

  * Working experience with code quality and static analysis tooling such as SonarScanner, Pytest, and standard linting frameworks.

  * Strong Linux/Unix system administration and scripting skills.

  * Experience with edge environments.

  * Experience building and operating monitoring and alerting in production environments (Grafana preferred).




SHOULD HAVE ATTRIBUTES/SKILLS

  * Experience with cloud platforms (AWS preferred) and hybrid environments.

  * Hands-on experience with Jenkins for build and deployment automation.

  * Proficiency creating, customizing, and managing Helm charts, Kubernetes Operators, and CRDs. 

  * Hands-on Go programming experience, including developing Kubernetes Operators with the Operator Framework and working directly with the Kubernetes API. 

  * Prior experience in an early-stage or high-growth startup environment.




NICE TO HAVE ATTRIBUTES/SKILLS

  * Hands-on OpenShift experience.

  * Familiarity with the 5G or LTE software stack at a working level (5G Core, RAN, or network functions).

  * Experience supporting 5G, LTE, or cellular engineering teams, or other domain teams working on integrated hardware-software systems.

  * Experience operating in a regulated or compliance-sensitive engineering environment.
